Samuel Avery

Samuel is a harm reduction advocate who specializes in educating newcomers about safe and responsible cannabis use. With a background in community health and patient support programs, he focuses on guiding readers through safe dosage, understanding tolerance, choosing the right method of consumption, and recognizing the body’s limits. Samuel writes clear, calm, and trustworthy articles that help people avoid unpleasant experiences and build a positive relationship with cannabis. He values safety, empowerment, and informed choices, always encouraging readers to approach cannabis with respect and awareness. Samuel believes that the best experiences come from preparation and knowledge, and his goal is to help readers feel confident, secure, and supported as they explore cannabis in healthy and mindful ways.

Expertise areas

  • Harm reduction principles applied to cannabis: dosage awareness, tolerance building, and recognizing personal limits
  • Consumption method safety: onset times, duration, and what newer users consistently underestimate about each format
  • Community health and patient support background informing practical, non-judgmental guidance for first-time and returning users
  • Understanding tolerance: how it develops, how to reset it, and what it means for finding a sustainable relationship with cannabis
  • Recognizing adverse reactions and knowing what to do when an experience becomes overwhelming
  • Helping readers build informed consent around cannabis: knowing what they're taking, why, and what to realistically expect
  • Navigating product labels, potency claims, and dispensary information without getting misled by marketing

How I work

My background is in community health and patient support, which means my reference point has always been real people navigating real situations, often without enough information and sometimes after something already went wrong. That experience shapes everything I write. When I cover a consumption method or a dosage guideline I'm thinking about the person who has never tried cannabis before, the one who tried an edible once and had a terrible time because nobody told them to wait, and the long-term user who doesn't realize their tolerance has quietly shifted. I draw on case patterns from support work, current harm reduction literature, and ongoing developments in cannabis health research to make sure the guidance here reflects what actually helps people stay safe. I also test the clarity of my own advice the same way a good patient educator would: if someone anxious and overwhelmed read this at the wrong moment, would it calm them down and give them something useful to do? If not, it needs more work.
